Our congregation had its humble beginnings as the First Congregational Society, with Rev. Royal Phelps guiding worship ceremonies in a Meeting House in Attica.
1823
Transition to the Presbytery of Genesee began, marking the beginning of our evolving congregational journey.
1829
The dedication of our first physical church - a wooden frame building built on land granted by Parmenio Adams. This location, hosting the Attica village clock, served our congregation for nearly 45 years.
1835
We officially align with the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Rev. James B. Shaw becomes our first installed Presbyterian pastor.
1873
A significant shift as we bid farewell to our wooden church, relocating it and erecting a sturdy red-brick church in its place – a fixture of our heritage that still stands to this day.
1890
The historic Johnson and Son organ, Opus No.744, is constructed. It will later become an integral part of our worship in 1924.
1909
A grand celebration of our 100 year milestone as a congregation is observed.
1924
Installation of the Johnson and Son organ, Opus No.744, enriches our worship services. Donated by Robert S Stevens, this 1893 Chicago World's Fair organ, features 912 pipes in 17 ranks.
1935
Our name changes to The First Presbyterian Church of Attica, reflecting our deep ties with the Presbyterian Church.
1958
We grow physically and in spirit with the expansion and addition of the Parish Hall that fosters community connection and events.
2009
We proudly celebrate the bicentennial of our congregation, marking 200 years of faith, fellowship and service.
